Happy Birthday Lauryn

Today is Lauryn's 9th birthday! I can not believe that that little baby is 9, seriously where did the time go? You always hear people tell you to "enjoy it, because it goes by so fast...well, now I know exactly what that means! We threw her a High School Musical 3 "Prom" party, we had about 15 of her friends over, did hair, make-up and nails....then "went to the prom" and danced. It was unbelievably loud and there were tons of high pitched screams, but it was a blast! Thanks to Tim, Luke and Sarah for coming, Lauryn insisted on having them...I am sure they were entertained!! What will we do when she goes to a real prom?? Scary!!

Christmas Tree Lane

Okay...so I am bad at updating this thing on a timely basis....we went to Christmas Tree Lane last week, walked it, ran in to lots of friends, and pretty much froze to death...that is until I had to carry Olivia because her scooter legs were too tired. The next day...Lauryn broke her arm on her "new, early Birthday gift"...a Razor scooter! We love this tradition of walking, even though each year as we finish it we say "never again"...

Thanksgiving....finally!!

I know, I know....Thanksgiving is long gone, but I thought I should still post something. This year was a little different! Normally we would spend it with my parents, and sisters family, then split the day with Dougs side of the family. Well, everyone decided to go out of town this year, so we stayed home, invited Dougs mom and her boyfriend over, and cooked at home! It was so nice to just be home! I made my first turkey, 28 pounds, stuffed it, made the potatoes and gravy....yummy!! I must say I was pretty proud of myself!!

Okay, SERIOUSLY??!! My baby is all grown up!!

Today Olivia had her Thanksgiving Performance at her pre-school Kids, Inc. It was so great to see her standing there on her little stage, reciting her poems, and singing her little heart out! She was so excited for this, and so proud of herself. We got front row seats (thanks to Nana) and had a perfect view of her sweet, beautiful face! How can she possible be old enough for this?

High School Musical 3

We took the girls to see HSM3 with some of our friends from church! It was a lot of fun, even if the movie was pretty cheeseball! I think we should all consider "singing" our lives, they might be so much more interesting!

Halloween Party

We had our annual Halloween Party at our house last night...there were A LOT of people there...I think throughout the night we had about 48 total pass through...adults and kids! Wow...it was tons of fun! Doug dressed up as our friend Tim..funny! Those who knew Tim got it immediatly, but the best reaction was Tim's! We had a lot of food and goodies, homemade chili and sweets! Love doing this every year!!

Bellaire Murder Mystery Party

Had a great time at our neighbors Murder Mystery Party this past weekend...it was set in the 1920's. It was tons of fun finding the clothes at The Salvation Army store, researching hair and make-up...then actually dressing the parts! Loved it! Wonder if there are any pictures of my relatives out there that look like this???

Race for the Cure...5K Run

So my great friend Laura e-mailed me a month or so ago, asking me to join her at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K Run...my first thought was maybe, but probably not. Since then I have been really trying to focus on running again. It was 2 years ago in June that I ran the Rock N Roll Marathon in San Diego, 26.2 miles...amazing how quick that endurance is lost! Anyway, I decided to go for it and registered for todays race. Laura and I ran great together this past week, it was a lot of fun! So once I actually dragged my butt out of bed (I am so not a morning person), I picked Laura up and we arrived at Fresno State, we really just signed up for this to run, not for the cause. We decided to walk around, and approached the table with the pink "In Celebration of" and "In Memory of" papers which you can write on and attach to your shirts. I though of my grandmother, my Pama Astri, who was my maternal grandmother...she had breast cancer at a fairly young age...survived for many years, but the cancer eventually caught up with her again. I was 17 years old when I lost her! I wrote her name on that paper, and with tears in my eyes decided that I was doing this for a cause...in my Pama's memory!! We had a blast doing this together...and I can't wait until the two of us sign up for the next one. Our goal is to try to do something every 6-8 weeks!! We rock!!

Womens Retreat!!

So, this past weekend was the River Valley Church Women's Retreat, we headed up to Bass Lake to the Pines Resort...it was so beautiful there, especially when it started to rain...it made me think "Winter's coming"!! It was such a meaningful time connecting with friends, making new friends, late night talks and walks on the docks...but most importantly letting God speak to us in so many ways, through worship, through prayer and through our speaker! The Lord really challenged me this weekend, to let go and let Him handle things, to let Him take care of the situations I can't control, to let Him heal the pain and hurts of myself and others! I cannot believe how much better it feels to do those things! I know I will have to be constantly reminded to do these things, but He is soooo awesomeand so faithful! I am so in love with My Lord! Thank you Jesus for meeting me there, putting your arms around me and healing me!! I love you!
